Responsibilities for Bartender
- Provide high quality, efficient, friendly service to customers
- Adhere to all local and state liquor laws
- Check IDs of all guests who appear under 40 years of age
- Greet guests in a timely manner and take orders
- Take food orders at bar
- Mix and serve drinks following set standard recipes
- Process cash and credit card transactions following appropriate procedures in point-of-sale system and cash register
- Fill ice bins at beginning and during shift
- Clean bar, prep areas, and back bar frequently throughout shift
- Keep dirty dishes off bar, empty bus tub before it gets full
- Clean up spills immediately
- Maintain safe hospitality practices, know when to “cut off” customers, when to call for security assistance
- Use bar dishwasher for all glassware and accessories, hand wash appropriate items
- Maintain fully stocked bar with liquors, beer, wines, kegs, glassware, accessories, garnishes, soda canisters, and supplies
- Conduct “breakage” tally after each shift (breakage = liquor inventory)
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and team
- Carry out all tasks with attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety
- Assist with nightly and monthly inventory and daily inventory controls
- Some of the above duties will be done by barbacks when they are on duty
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2 years of experience in a busy bar
- Must be 21 years of age
- Basic mathematical skills
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, champagne, and mixed cocktails
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Know basic food service protocols
- Ability to read and speak English proficiently
